Rep Power: 0 Remote starter on an 08
Hi, I'm new to the forum and I need some help please. I'm installing a remote starter on my wife's 07 Civic and I'm looking for one wire that disables the factory alarm.
I've installed several of these on other vehicles without problem, but this one has me stumped. The alarm wire is not the brown wire in pin 31 as the diagram I have shows, and I cannot find it in any of the wires going directly to the switch.
Everything about the starter works with one exception. It will start by the remote as long as the key is in the ignition(in the off position) The engine will stop by the remote or brake pedal as it's supposed to also. If the key is removed from the switch, the engine cranks once, but does not start.
This is apparently because the key is "sensed" by the alarm when it is in the switch.
I have one wire from the remote start box that is supposed to be connected to somewhere on the car to disable the alarm and allow the car to start without a key in the ignition. The locations that I have tried will not work.
I've been crossreferencing the instructions to a list of all wires and their colors that are connected to the fuse block and ignition switch. I am unable to find the correct location from this.
Does anyone know which circuit disables the alarm, or what I'm looking for?
Thank you

I also do not have the tach input wire connected. It says it may/may not be needed. Can someone direct me where to connect it? I do not know where or which wire it is. Thanks

1st - stop bumping the thread...
2nd - what cars have you installed them before?
3rd - can you get a sercive manual or maybe a haynes manual? (not sure if there is one for the 8th gen civic) - they have the wiring diagrams. but a remote starter will need to bypass the key chip system, so not sure how to do it.

Bumping the thread is how we keep eyes on it at Hayabusa.org, if folks don't do that here I'll just let the thread die. No one seems to know anyway.

Re: Remote starter on an 08
Alarm installation is defiantly not my strong point so just use my advice as something to look into. It sounds to me like there's a problem with the immobilizer bypass since the car starts when the factory key is in the ignition. I would double check all the connections on the bypass
