o6 Civic Coupe LEDs

I am trying to install LED bars that turn on when the car is unlocked, tapped into the Dome light. However, after spending two hours messing with the electronics, I'm baffled. Using a wire tester, with Red grounded, I tested the dome light and found that it had continuous power. I was hoping to be able to attach these LEDs without a switch. Am I doing something wrong?

Re: o6 Civic Coupe LEDs

1 side of the circuit is constant 12 volts and the other side is a ground that is provided by the MICU inside the under dash fuse box.

You will have to determine the polarity needed to light the LEDs. it should work fine.

What color wires did you tap into ??

Re: o6 Civic Coupe LEDs

I tapped directly into the dome light wires; they are blue and pink with grey stripes.

Re: o6 Civic Coupe LEDs

Just use those 2 wires to power the LEDs, do you have red & black leads on the LEDs ??

Your red will go to the line with constant power (can't remember which, pink iirc) and the ground will be provided from the other line to the black lead on the LEDs and they should light when the dome light does.

Re: o6 Civic Coupe LEDs

I wired it exactly like that; however, the LEDs just remain lit.

Re: o6 Civic Coupe LEDs

Does the dome light still work correctly ??

Also make sure the dome switch is not set to "ON"
