Rep Power: 0 alarm works but not remote start
So I finally had a chance to finish my Viper 5900 install with remote start. Everything on the alarm seems to be functioning properly.
Doors lock/unlock. Car arms/disarms. Factory alarm arms/disarms. Bang on the car, alarm goes off...etc
However, trying to remote start does not work, unless i'm using the wrong buttons on the remote. I double checked all my wiring, and I don't see anything that i'm missing or wired wrong.
If you have tips where to start the diagnostics, that would help. My car is a 2008 Honda Civic Si.
I have the Viper 5900 with the DEI key box to read the chip and the neutral safety switch installed.
edit:
The only thing I can think of is the DEI 689M module could be wired wrong. I tested the Black, Red, Yellow, Green, and White wires. The Purple is not used and i'm not sure about the light blue. I'm not sure how to test the Gray, Dark Blue, or Black/White.
As far as the gray, when the ebrake is down and no press on the brake pedal, the DMM reads 11v. When the brake is pressed, ebrake down, I read 4.43v. When the brake is pressed and ebrake is pulled up, it reads 4.43v. When brake pedal is not pressed and ebrake is pulled up, I get 110mv.
Also, how do I wire the purple and black wire. Its a 2 wire harness that supposed to connect to the clutch pedal. I see the black is wired to the pedal, but what is up with the purple. The instructions do not illustrate where it gets tied into.

So first of all I think it would be best to bypass the 689M until you can get it to start. My first thought is the black/white wire on the 5-pin harness (on the Viper brain) isn't receiving ground because of the 689M. We'll have you unhook the blk/wht from the 689M and just put it to chassis ground.
MAKE SURE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL!!!
Activate the r/s by pressing the star button two times. Hopefully at a bare minimum your parking lights will flash twice and then you'll get some sort of crank.
If you're not able to get any of that let me know, we can look at some other potential shutdown inputs.
Once you're able to get it to remote start w/o the 689M, we can talk about what you have to do for that to work.

Ok, no start..no lights.
Did notice that when I lock my car, the alarm chirps and then chirps once more and gives me the 'hood' flash.
The hoodpin wire is connected to ground as of now since I can't find the proper wire.

ok, i got the parking lights to flash. The gauge cluster lit up. No crank though. I think the doors made a sound as if they tried to unlock or lock.
Also, it kept trying to start it seems, the cluster would light up and then turn off, then light up again as if it was failing and then trying again.

so I guess we elminated anything wired wrong with the DEI key module, starter brain, etc..
now to get the DEI 689M wired correctly.
Also, I had wired the brake pedal, so when I pressed it, it shut off.
PS. YOU ARE THE MAN! I OWE YOU.

on the 689M I already have Yellow, Red, Black wired correctly as well as the Green and White wire. The purple is not used as its the positive door trigger and mine is negative.
On the relay for the DEI 689M I have the parking brake wired properly as well as the brake pedal. The white wire on the relay is connected to the gray wire on the 689M module. The black wire, I put a diode on it, connected it to the Dark Blue wire, but not sure where else the dark blue wire connects to. I still have Light Blue and Black/White left.
And as far as the purple and black wire connector that connects to the DEI 689M, not sure which goes where.

I'm just going to run right down the list.
green: (-) door trigger, tap this into the door trigger input on the v5900. You used diodes for your (-) door triggers, right?!?
black/white: this will hook up to the black/white on the viper 5-pin that we sent to ground earlier
dark blue: (-) status input, hook up to a blue or blue/white status output on the viper brain as well as the diode like you said
light blue: (-) status output, probably not needed
other plug
purple: to black ground wire @ clutch
black: to orange trigger wire @ clutch

will try that out and report back to you. I think I cut off the white/blue wire because some other alarm expert told me it was not needed.

white/blue (on main brain harness) is NOT needed
however, blue/white (on 5-pin with tach wire) or blue (on 4-pin plug for relay pack) would be a good choice for the dark blue on the 689m

2. Engage parking brake
3. Put tranny in Neutral
4. Let off clutch
5. DO NOT HIT THE FOOT BRAKE
6. Activate remote start while vehicle is still running
7. Parking lights/dash lights should flash
8. Remove key from ignition
9. Get out of vehicle and shut the door (door must be open for at least 3 seconds apparently)
10. Vehicle should shut itself down, and you should be set up to activate r/s until door is opened again
