hello guys im a new guy here just got a few questions
i have a 2006 honda civic r18 , i noticed a few days ago a loud ticking started
so i was doing some research and some people said purge valve solenoid ??
my car only ticks when car is reached warm temp . when the car is cold i cant hear the ticking , someone told me by unplugging the wire thats hooked up to it the ticking should stop if thats the problem is this true ?
thanks guys please post and let me know what you think

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: ~need help loud ticking coming from front end~
If it does not change ticking speed with engine RPM then it's probably electrical..
Use your ears to locate it.
Purge solenoid would be a good guess.

Are you low on oil?
If so then the lifters/rocker arms can start chattering in the valve assembly.

Oil leaks shouldn't have anything to do with a noise (at first glance), and the 2 most common places I saw these seep is the timing chain tensioner cover (bottom part of top circle), and the breather baffle cover on the back of the block (hidden by the intake manifold).....and an occasional front crank seal.
Spilled oil or a valve cover leak or an oil cap left off may result in stains where you circled too.
Clean off all leak residue so you can start fresh, use powder as a leak tracing agent? Bath talc or Right Guard work well.
If you think the PCV is making a noise, pinch off the hose in the upper circle and see if the noise quits.

^Looks like the power steering pump is covered in an oily mess.
Has the pump or lines been leaking, or was something spilled on it?
Is the fluid low?
Is this even anywhere near the source of the tick noise, your original concern?

It's not the power steering pump leaking , it's oil pushing out somewhere around the power steering pump all my fluids are fine I'm just losing a bit of oil

Use a stethoscope to figure out where the noise is coming from.

LOL!
OP, we can't help you If you're not listening.
By the look of that ps pump I would bet it is the item blown, but you need to check this first. As mentioned above, go buy a cheap Mechanic's Stethoscope ($10), place it one the PS pump and hear if the sound is coming from a blown bearing or pump internal.
If it is not coming form the pump, test other items until you hear it.
...and for F'cks sack don't wear anything anything that will get caught in a belt while you are testing items, lol.

Can't tell much from that video.
I hear a ton of noise picked up by the microphone...but can't tell if typical or not.
Anyone else?

thanks man! yeah it sounds alot different on the cam ,.,,, its more of a ticking noise IRL , i might just take it in to honda to ask them to find the problem ? not sure what to do at this point oil is just a small leak but i think it has to do with the noise .... i got rear ended 2 weeks ago do u think this could have caused the problem ?

Do you really think getting rear ended could cause these issues on the other end of the car?
