Rep Power: 0 2012 Honda Civic low steering wheel vibration caused by low idle
I have a 2012 Honda Civic Ex which I just got last year. The problem that I am having is a slight vibration in the steering wheel caused by low idling when I am stopped at a traffic light or stop sign with my foot on the brake. I do not notice this problem when my car is park. I took it to the Honda dealer last week for an oil change and asked the service advisor who said we were unable to duplicate your concern at this time. I went back and talked to the mechanic who told me that 3 other people have complained about this. My car only has on it 25,000km. I also called Honda Canada who told me that the dealer has to duplicate the problem. Also on these cars there is no manual adjustment to tweak or increase the idling speed. Everything is done by computer. I also asked if there was a firmware update to fix the problem and the answer is no. I would appreciate anyone else having the same problem on this car.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 2012 Honda Civic low steering wheel vibration caused by low idle
I'd assume it's normal, mine does it too sometimes (12 LX Sedan, about the same mileage)
I'm not aware of any software updates specifically addressing this issue (although there have been other issues addressed with software updates), no bulletins, no adjustments.
I expect some vibrations from a 4 cylinder engine though, it's the nature of the beast.

My 2010 idles lower as the temps rise higher, still have a gap on passenger side mount. During winter idle is slightly higher, and smoother.
(9th gens may use a different, improved mount ???)

Re: 2012 Honda Civic low steering wheel vibration caused by low idle
My 2006 vibrates quite a bit at idle, especially at stop-lights in the summer.
Turning on the AC, and increasing the rpms a tad, makes it smooth.
My 2014 has no vibration at all, or is at least so minuscule that I don't notice it.
As the other's have said, it's probably normal...you could check the passenger side mount just to be safe, but being only 3 years old and lower mileage I doubt anything is wrong with it.
