Rep Power: 0 Auto tranny fluid change
I figured I ask the experts here on trannies.
I have a 2012 HF and just changed the trannie oil.....and made a mistake on how to check. I originally had it running and now just realized that I should have warmed the drive train and TURN off the car to check. The fluid is in my guesstimate 1/2 qt OVER. I've read that it's best to NOT over fill. So I plan on draining a little after car cools off.
My other question is, has anyone ever used Swepco Trannie oil in their Hondas?
....that's what I just put in. To my knowledge it's made for industrial applications / heavy duty stuff like buses and is all synthetic. I put 7 miles on it and it shifts smoother.
Any comments? Thanks

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: Auto tranny fluid change
What was wrong with using the correct specified Honda DW-1 automatic transmission fluid, available at any Honda or Acura dealer?

I've used the Honda fluids the past two changes. As for Swepco, I use it in my Audi S/4 and in my Porsche....figured I try it in the 2012 HF.

Re: Auto tranny fluid change
its very important to use honda oem tranny fluid and nothing else,
many people have had tranny issues when going with other fluids,
and if you still have a warranty it will most likely be void now (on the tranny)

Re: Auto tranny fluid change
when you drain the tranny your only getting out about 1/3 of the fluid,
you will still have alot of the wrong fluid in there,
you would need to drain and fill it probably 5 times in a row to get all the fluid out
