Rep Power: 0 2007 Civic starter
I have a 2007 Civic EX with about 80,000 miles on it. When starting the vehicle and after the engine is running the starter continues to run for a second or two. The vehicle has done this for the last 4 years however it is now doing it for a longer duration, about 4 seconds. Any ideas as to what could be wrong? Bad starter?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 2007 Civic starter
Let go of the key when it starts?
Anything aftermarket or non-factory in it?
Not a common issue here.
Sounds like it might be needing some electrical checking to see if it is still receiving power to the solenoid when it does this.

Re: 2007 Civic starter
I'd connect a test light to the one wire for the solenoid and see how it acts.
Would be a PITA to actually connect on the starter to test.
Convenient connector is next to the master cylinder reservoir, it's only got one wire in it. You can't miss it.
