Rep Power: 0 2006 Honda Civic odd idle at stop?
I have recently purchased a 2006 Honda Civic with 169k. (Automatic)
Ran like a dream for the first month, now when I’m at a stop the car will idle rough (not through the steering wheel) more from the bottom of the car. If I turn the steering wheel the RPM’s will go from about 600 to about 1000 and the rough idle will go away until the RPM’s drop back down to 600.
I have changed the sparkplugs (hoping it would be a fouled plug) yesterday and the car still does it.
My parents mechanic wants to clean the fuel system…
I’m thinking it might be a bad motor mount, but I shift through the gears manually & there is no “thud” or “slamming” of the engine.
Could it be anything other than that?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

I%u2019m thinking it might be a bad motor mount, but I shift through the gears manually & there is no %u201Cthud%u201D or %u201Cslamming%u201D of the engine.
The normal motor mount failure doesn't cause a thump on accel in this car.
The (engine, front, by the accessory belt) mount collapses and transmits engine vibration throughout the car, mostly at idle and in reverse.
During forward acceleration the vibration goes away.
