Rep Power: 0 Odd Whining Noise from 2007 Honda Civic
Hello,
Recently, I've noticed that my 2007 Honda Civic makes an odd whining noise. And it doesn't seem to matter the season. It had occurred from August till now. It is quite an annoyance. However, the whining noise appears to stop after running the car for about 20 minutes. Does anyone know what is causing this, and perhaps, provide a solution to fixing this problem?
Much appreciated.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Could you be any more vague?
I don't hear anything.
Better description?
Recording/video?

THAT was a roundabout ordeal to find, download, decode, play, hear....My attention span doesn't like waiting that long...
Jeez, no video? I can't tell where you are moving around at, or where it might be louder or quieter.
I can only close my eyes and wonder.
What makes the noise change?
Steering wheel movement?
Headlights on/off?
AC on/off?
Rev up the engine slowly?
Where is it the loudest?
Use a stethoscope to listen, move it around to various items to try to pinpoint the loudest areas.
I have a long screwdriver that I use a lot for this stuff.
Is the power steering fluid low?
I might use a tool to take tension off of the drive belt while it is running (completely loose for just a few seconds), so I can see if it is one of the belt driven items causing the noise. Can't do this for more than a few seconds because the water pump is on the belt drive, you might cause overheat damage if you let it run too long without the pump.
