When the car is in park or neutral (automatic transy) the car revs up just fine, no misses or problems, but as soon as its dropped in car it won't go over 5 mph. Is this a convertor issue or a transmission issue. Took it to a mechanic and they said there were two convertors on it and need to replace both, then took it to another mechanic for a second opinion and was told that there is only one convertor and no one has even looked at the transmission. HELP please.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

What year car?
How many miles?
There is ONE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
There is ONE TORQUE CONVERTER.

The engine, when in park acts, sounds, feels, like a normal engine. As soon as it is placed in any gear RPM's drop to next to nothing and it will move but won't go over 5 mph. The engine acts like it is working correctly, just no power. When it comes to an incline (live in a very hilly area) it slows even more, and acts as if its losing more power than it already was. It does not stall out

Check engine light on? What codes?
Really, this ain't rocket science.
You just need a smart mechanic.
One that can figure out the single (or two) cause(s) of your problems.

A plugged cat can be easily diagnosed.
Figuring out what caused it might take more work though.
More possibilities are there too, but the car can be diagnosed fairly easily by someone that knows what they are doing.

That's the biggest issue is finding a smart mechanic in our area. The engine codes are throwing off about the O2 sensor. But that was checked also. As previously stated the mechanics leave a lot to be desired! Thanks though.
