Hey all! I have a 2009 Civic LX-S that I've driven A LOT! 64k miles, all me, bought it off the lot. The other day I noticed the defrost was not actually blowing though it was control *** was on max. After fiddling for a moment, it turned on only when I put the unit to max AC. Then I switched it to defrost/heat and it worked fine.
NOW... Neither the A/C or heater or defrost are working. On the freeway I can feel warm air (the temp guage is set to the hottest setting) emitting from the dash vents, but it is as if the blower is not working whatsoever. The rear window defrost is fine.
Anyone have this experience? Or have any idea what I might do first?
I do my own maintenance, other than the interval maintenance at the dealer (fluid exchanges). I just replaced the cabin air filter again as well as the engine air filter. I'm at a loss.
Thanks in advance!
Have a great day

Try the test I posted here...https://www.civicforums.com/forums/2...mittently.html
oops, wrong thread.
Lower the glovebox, remove cabin filter, start car and set fan on at low speed. Reach in and spin white blades of blower fan and see if it will start running.

I don't see a test there when I arrive at the link... just
"The intermittent blower fan startup for the 8th gens is a bit common. The part # for the blower fan has been changed.
It could be a tough battle with the dealer though being intermittent."
https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...ml#post4568871
the above link has a test you posted...
I did that. I actually took out my cabin air filter so I could see the fan... with the ignition turned over but the engine still off... the blower was not working when turned on. I reached my hand in there (stupid, I know) and touched that fan and it started up. Then after I turned it off and back on twice (the blower was following orders), it stopped working again. Soooo... with the blower control *** turned off I reached in and spun the fan, then turned it on and it worked again. Any help??

Yes, I was in a hurry and did not find the correct thread.
If the motor will start up and run with a spin to get it started then you need a new blower motor/fan assembly.
The part # for the blower has been changed by Honda, hopefully to address an issue.
3 screws and 1 connector and it will drop down for replacement.
The link you posted is more of a 7th gen thing, failure to start without a hand spin is an 8th gen thing.

Just wondering if I need to unscrew, etc to get to the AC fan on my 09 Civic? I pulled out the glove box & can see the guts behind it but can't find the fan.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 09 Civic heater/ac blower not working
You can look up your own parts in a real Honda parts catalog....and you know more about what your exact car is than we do,
Many dealers sell parts online at wholesale prices.
Here's a few to check, search for more if you wish
