Angry No Ignition spark- please help

1996 EX 1.6 dead in my garage. Will a broken fuel pump shut down the ignition system??? I loosened the gas line on the fuel filter, no gas while turning the motor. I didn't pull the line completely off but will tonight. I found that there is no spark. I have changed out the coil and igniter in the distributor and still no spark? This is a nine month old distrubitor bought on e-bay for half what advanved auto wanted. Did I get what I paid for? I don't want to buy a new distrubitor only to find I have a different issue. Any ideas???

I think they sell something called spake plug tester. You buy that and plug it in your coil then leave it out side, start the engine and have someone look at the tester to see if there is any spark. If yes, then check your fuel injector, that could be the cause.

Maybe you got what you paid for. Aftermarket rebuilts have a lousy track record.

But think logically for a minute.......

A PGMFI main relay can stop both fuel and spark, and a whole lot of engine components won't have B+ at the same time.
A little simple electrical diagnosis would be in order. (wiring diagram and a test light)
Does the check engine light come on when you turn the key on?

If the main relay loses its ground, it can't work, it can't turn on the fuel pump or the PCM. The main relay grounds at the thermostat housing.
