2010 Manual - Something "catching" in 2nd Gear

Hello fellow Civic Enthusiasts,

I have a 2010 Civic LX, 2dr Manual 5 speed and love the car to death. Something has been bothering me lately though and I thought originally it was due to the cold weather in Winter, but a few months into the warmer weather it still happens.

Whenever I shift from 3rd to 2nd, or, 4th to 2nd if I need to suddenly slow down, I will feel the shifter get caught on something. Now there have been a few times when the shifter will not go into 2nd at all, kinda feels like it is stuck half way into position. Most (99%) of the time it feels like something catches an edge, while every other gear flows into position nicely. A friend of mine told me that once in a while a "burr" can develop on the shifter deep in there and cause this. Is that true?

Wondering if others have had the same thing happen to them and figured out what the problem is. Please note that the car runs fine and the gearing is still good. I am not a mechanic or know too much how to diagnose, but am fairly apt to know what you're talking about if you can help. I hope I explained the problem well and any feedback would be appreciated.
