Serpentine Belt Problems

Removal and installation isnt a problem. Thats the easy part to figure out.

The hard part is getting the right belt size.

All the auto parts places specify a 7 rib x 82.5 belt. That size is waaayy too long for my 06 Civic. Digging around on the store shelf they found a 76.3 which was just a little too short. The belt I took off measures almost 78.

I find it hard to believe EVERYONE would have a size listed that doesnt fit on my car. Any of you run into this problem? I'm just going to my favorite belt store and get the right one by size.

Get an OEM... can't be more than a few $$ more, no guessing about proper belt size.

Word. I went and bought belts specifically for my Si from Auto Zone and they didn't even fit. I brought the car to get the timing belt done and looked at my receipt. They cost the same damn amount, so what have you got to lose?

Re: Serpentine Belt Problems

New belts are usually slightly smaller than the old one that is removed due to stretch im assuming the measurement u have it in inches
An inch and a half seems too small probally a 77.5 would be correct

Re: Serpentine Belt Problems

Only 2 belts I would use are Gates belts from car-quest etc. or OEM. I have been installing Gates belts and OEM at my shop and its is very rare for a comeback for a belt issue. I cant recall a comeback.
