Question about CAI vs SRI

Hey guys,

New to the forums, and/or scene. Picking up my first civic on Tuesday! It's an '04 EX Coupe, and I'll probably be putting a new intake in there, as I hear the stock one is less than ideal. My question is, Why would I choose one over another? I know that CAIs can have some issue with rain/flooding, and freeze an engine, but is that the only reason why you should choose an SRI over a CAI?

Lay some truth on meh.

Re: Question about CAI vs SRI

well, unless u go out and race her all day, SRI is way better.

sounds nice, looks nice under ur hood, is cheaper and easier to install and u dont need to worry about flodding ur engine... unless u get hit by like Katrina or something. lol

i got a CAI at first, but i live in FL and found out the hard way on one of my cars that even medium sized puddles are a no-no... now all i use is SRI that i built a heat sheild around to block the heat away from the engine.

my next project is to wrap my header and intake piping... should help with temps ALOT and keep me from getting bored... lol

Re: Question about CAI vs SRI

Nope, no plans to race, just looking for something that'll look nice, and give me a bit of efficiency/boost. SRI sounds like what I need then, any recommendations on brands? or perhaps something i could get for less than 100 bucks?

Re: Question about CAI vs SRI

The aem v2 is about the best you can get, but you might not be able to find it for around 100 used, worth checking out. A lot of ppl say any ebay intake is good, as long as the filter is upgraded to something that actually filters. Personally if I was to buy an ebay intake I would polish the inside and coat the outside so it doesn't absorb heat as much- which heats up the air and decreases the air density.
