Vibrant Short Shifter

Last night I installed a Vibrant Short Shifter onto my 2000 Civic EX (5 Spd). Well I did not pay too much attention during the job. As I was attaching the linkage to the shifter I noticed I was very near the exhaust. To make a long story short the Vibrant Shifte #1951 is differant from the stock shifter. The distance from the pivot ball to the center of the bearing is about 1" more. Now the exhaust comes in contact with the linkage ever so slightly, but enough to be annoying. I have a stock exhaust system, looks brand new. So I would not rate this part very high on fit. All else is great. Has anyone run into this with any other short shifters? I'm gonna see if I can space my exhaust lower by 1/2"? To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

Re: Vibrant Short Shifter

After doing a bit of research, I found that what makes a short shifter, a short shifter, is the increased length between the pivot point and the linkage bearing. That, combined with the shorter length above the pivot point decreases the angle of movement required to engage a gear. I'll try and move my exhaust this weekend...

So it fits the way it is suppose to...
