Amp: JL Audio 500/1
The amp is an original series 500/1. I have the manual that goes with it.
The amp works perfectly. It does not overheat, it does not cut out. It works exactly the same as the day I bought it.
The amp has been very well taken car of, given tons of breathing room. It has always been hooked up with 4ga. wire, and properly taken care of.
The amp has light scratches on the aluminum, and the back, as well as some more significant scratches in the black metal heatsink - mostly around the mounting areas.
First and foremost, this box was literally designed by JL Audio for these subs. It sounds amazing. The subs may be 10", but they hit hard. This box is ported, but you get such high quality it's incredible. They are clean like two 10's in a sealed box, but hit as hard as two 12's in a ported box. Very nice balance of power and precision.
The subs sound like-new. I have not noticed any decrease in performance from they day they were first installed. They were properly broken in, and very well maintained. They lived in my Civic's trunk, where they never got wet, never got too hot, and were never abused.
The only problem is that the one terminal has a cracked hood. It is not broken off. It will still tighten down and hold the wire in place, but not as super-tight as the other. See pics.
Final Price: $300
Reduced from $450 because I finally got around to ordering a smaller system for my new car. $300 picked up, FIRM. This is worth more, but I don't care. For the price of a half-decent new amplifier, you can get a JL system that will shake your civic apart, and still sound amazing.
