^^ Yup! That should be easy consider using all OEM parts. But for those who hasn't got the OEM switch and relay, the circuit I made should be able to solve the problem for your mirrors! Following are more pic of the prototype. The pots are to adjust the timing. Time can be set between 2 seconds and 3.5 seconds by the 100k ohm pot.

Hmm.... I just tried the circuit... it doesn't work!!! The 556 seems to be too sensitive to the changing current. So please everyone hold on to it first!
momentary just means it returns to original position after you let go of the switch.
it goes two ways then springs back to off when you let go of it.
you still have to hold it til it folds all the way.
^^ hahaa... me too!!! or even more than that because I have been doing a lot of trouble shooting. That's why I keep saying that is just the prototype. Don't spend money on it yet.
According to what you said about the Momentary Toggle, the circuit I created does the same thing as well. The mirrors fold in or out as long as you hold the switch. <--- which is not right because the 556 supposed to serve as a timer which controls the power to the mirrors. For example, if I set the pot to 78k ohm and press the button once, the 556 would trigger the Relay #1 and provides 2 second of electricity to the mirror motors. That's the whole point of having that timer IC. However, now the problem is that the motors are drawing too much current from the source and lowering the voltage. When there is a change of voltage in the circuit, the 556 shuts off and, therefore, no power is going through the relay. Now, I am trying to seperate the circuit from the relays. (simply connecting a seperate 9V battery to the circuit would do the trick!). I will try it after work!
hmm nice
i just tried the momentary toggle
it works fine
also we have to make sure the wires going to the mirrors are the same length for both left and right
the passenger side wire was about 4 inches shorter than the driver side and it was folding about .3 seconds faster than the driver side.
i decided to use a non momentary switch for now and hook up the 12v to a switched source this way i can leave the switch on open when i leave the car so they will unfold when i start it.
however our goal here is to get them to do this on its own.
is a switch rate for 6 amps @ 125 VAC good enough for these mirrors?
Thats more than enough. I got the mirrors working at less than 3 amps (12v). If anything make sure u fuse it. Anyone want to try a 0.5 amp fuse and work their way up? We gotta protect our investments.
I'd gladly do it myself but i have a hurricane to watch out for.
alright
so i used the on - off - on toggle
the downside with this method is that you have to hold it til they fold in and out
like civic sky said the timer is supposed to have it so you dont have to hold it
i would rather have gone with getting the oem switch like dru106 did also if you can get the oem relay it would be almost plug and play
i have to mention that the hardest part of this install was getting the damn wire through that rubber tube that connects the door to the car.

Using OEM parts is obviously the best way to go when making your mirrors fold. I should've gotten those instead of making it myself. Just make sure where to put those additional wiring. I went under the dash panel one time and tried to figure out which is which. If you get the OEM stuff, you probably need to route the additional wires into the fuse box somewhere and connect the OEM fuse box. Of course, there is no way you can skip the "fun" part -- get the wires through the door panels.

so with this place? wat i just ge tthe relays? how about the wiring and switch? iono wat else i would need to get it working but if this place has it im gonna go down there next week to check it out. imma be in socal next friday to pick up some wheels.
ok ppl, now i need to know what the black/yellow wire does on the switch!!! I know that the red/blk is power and blk is ground!! What does blk/yel wire do?? cuz the diagram i got doenst show what its for?? Oh yea and i need to know whats the red wire for too!!!!!
Ok!!! Their done!!! I went to work to check out the diagram and i found out that those 2 extra wires are for illumination for the switch so those werent needed cuz the switch wit the folding option doesnt have it...... So there u have it guys!!! Just follow the diagram i posted up before and ur set to go!!!!
Hahaaa.... I finally get my mirrors work with my circuit!!!! hahaa!!!! I found 2 power sources from the fuse box (under the steering wheel) and connect to my updated circuits with independent 556 and relays. Fuse number 3 and 12. My circuit works by seperating the relays from the 556 circuit. I will update the diagram later! (not too many changes. You just have to isolate the positive on the relay from the circuit.
