thanks for the clarification. you're right and i must admit my mistake. i totally forgot that you are in the US and i'm in the Philippines!
well, unlike the 2001 - 2002 civic released in the US, from the DX, LX up to EX, the civics released from 2001 up to the present here in the Philippines HAVE console with lid over the front cupholders and they all have a lighter and an ashtray to go with that. In addition, they all have the side card holders.
the usdm civic's console (2001-2002, DX,LX,EX) has a level profile if you looked at it from the side; its almost horizontal while the Philippine and JDM civic's console slopes upward towards the lid (front, facing the dash) where it meets the ashtray and lighter panel.
The Philippine and JDM civic's console is almost similar to the US 2003 civic hybrid which has a: 1) lid over the cupholders and 2) sloping top. However, the noticeable difference is that the US Hybrid doesn't have card holders at the sides.
While it is true that the US 2003 up civic DX,LX,EX,Hybrid consoles are "lidded", their transmission and bolt pattern are diffrent from the 2001-2002, making them unaddaptable to earlier models.
to correct my earlier post, my ashtray/lighter panel piece will therefore will fit the ff USDM civics:
1) 2003 hybrid - coupe/sedan
2) 2003 - 2005 DX,LX,EX,Hybrid,VP - coupe/sedan
for the 2001-2002 DX,LX,EX, i am also selling my JDM console which goes with the ashtray/lighter panel that i'm selling so you don't have to modify your current console. it will fit both the sedan and coupe models and will fit all USDM civics from 2001-2005.
