I have been having this trouble with my 97 Honda Civic EX MT. Whenever the CEL comes on,when idling, the car idles around 2000 rpm. Along with that when I accelerate I cannot accelerate above 3000rpm in each gear. I do hear a clicking from the ECU when the CEL comes on.
I have taken it to a couple of places and when the CEL is on the diagnostics come up with nothing and when CEL is not on it is fine and everything is fine and also runs fine. The previous owner has done a ton of rewiring and other things with the car and when I took it to a shop they said they fixed a lot of wires that needed fixing and also believe they tried replacing ECU but not sure.
After this last place I took it too that fixed wires, it now struggles to start and still is having all same problems. ( luckily no charge since guy couldn't fix it ha ) but just any thoughts that might help. I'm willing to try anything thanks!
