change out battery in 2005 EX

Yes, I'm asking about changing out the battery in an 05 Civic EX.

Why?

Well the car is 5.5hrs away, and I'm riding my motorcycle there to change it out. My girl friend is broke down.

What tools do I need to bring with me and are there any electronics that will need to be reset?

Re: change out battery in 2005 EX

best if you hit up walmart first and get the "battery saver" tool which is a 12v plug you put in the cig lighter and it has a 9v battery hooked to it. this will save the ecu and radio memory so nothing gets erased (be sure key is on ACC position which activates power to the socket, and turn off all dome lights, radio, and other accessories). as for tools, just basic socket wrench and sockets, maybe some regular wrench to take the holder off and the clamps. pretty easy, and make sure the clamps are tight on the new battery. get some dielectric grease to put on them too so it keeps corrosion away.

Re: change out battery in 2005 EX

Thanks for the tip! I ran wires from the bike to the car to keep it hot and did the swap. And when I was finished...I turned the car and saw everything was still set, that just made me smile. I've been doing wrong all these years, lol!
