I just got the ignition switch in my Honda Civic 99 LX sedan, equipped with alarm and auto disabler.
When i went to pick up the car from the mechanic, i noticed that when i use the remote to open the car, and open the door, the parking lights go on by itself, and this causes another beeping sound till i turn on the ignition(which you hear if you get out of the car and forget to turn the lights off) which is annoying.
Mechanic says he did not touch the alarm, just changed the ignition switch and hence he did not cause it. It used to work perfectly before.
Now he is asking me to get an expert opinion from folks who fix alarms and ask them to say that ignition switch change can cause it, only then he will take responsibilty.
does anyone know how to fix it?

This was an alarm installed by the Dealer in LA, along with auto-disabler and lo-jack, at the time i bought it 10 years ago for a $1000 package.
its a 99 CIVIC LX, i believe, at that time the alarms were not part of the standard equipment.
This mechanic says he does not work on alarms and does not know if he caused it, or if he could fix it.
Can you help, based on the symptom?
im really not sure what happened, those alarm systems are tied to the ignition to disable the engine, but he should not have played with any of those systems. unless accidentally he messed up the wires.
