2000 civic car audio

have a 2000 civic ex, factory radio. Would like to switch it out with something that would allow ipod/mp3. There is a viper security system also, but really don't know if it goes through radio. Radio is one of those that if you change the battery you have to input code. Can I or am I limited on being able to switch out the radio? Re: 2000 civic car audio

swap radio....no problem. best radio for ipod for the price is the sony 430. if the alarm doubles as a keyless entry it should work without the radio. if the keyless still operates through the radio they make a harness that will let the radio stay in the dash behind the aftermarket radio. so either way....youre good

I've always wondered about the 6th gens... what the hell does the stock radio have to do with keyless entry? Were they high when they designed it?

Re: 2000 civic car audio

alpine sucks as bad as sony....kenwood excelon ftmfw!

and the factory keyless in civics 96-2000 usually do work through the factory radio....this is why metra had created a 701720t harness to leave the factory radio in so the keyless would work.

Come back when you have some hard evidence to support that. Alpines ar great units much better SQ than kenwood as well and there ipod integration is the best out there.

i see you have a hard on for me already.....

alpine base model with usb/ipod=149.95
kenwood base model w/usb/ipod=139.95

i work for freemans car stereo in charlotte, nc

our return rate for warranty is as follows

alpine=14%
kenwood=6%
sony=12%
jvc=17%
pioneer=12%

not to mention....
alpine=1year warranty on every unit
kenwood=1 year on base model....2 year on excelon(i guess they know their product is better, lol)

I am not saying at all that kenwood is bad all I am saying is that I prefer alpine because of how they integrate there stuff and how they have a lot more options.

Re: 2000 civic car audio

agree to disagree? cool. my "opinion"....alpine hasnt made anything worthy since the early 90s. pioneer has always been my choice until the last 2 years.

im going to throw you a bone here....my favorite 4", 5.25", 5x7, 6.5", 6.5" component set, and 6x9 speakers (for the money) are the alpine s type. they have the best low frequency response of any low to mid priced mids and highs that i have ever heard. there, i said it.....something alpine makes is the best in my opinion....but their radios suck.
