98 EX Power wire for amp

So, I feel really dumb asking this question, but I am just curious more than anything. I have installed numerous amps in quite a few different vehicles, but never a Honda. I am planning on putting a 10 in my wifes car, and prolly not more than a 200 watt amp. I will prolly just use 8 or 10 guage power wire. The thing that I am wandering about...the battery cables on the car are only like 8 gauge, same with the ground cable. Back a couple years ago I remember seeing some sort of grounding strap kit that is sposed to do all these wild things for performance and audio quality. Do I need to look into getting a bigger ground cable? What do yall recommend using to connect the power wire to the battery? I can do the ghetto thing and just take the nut loose off the back of the battery cable clamp, and use a ring terminal to tie the power cable on. I sure want to do this right, and make it look nice. This is not a vehicle I am going to use for audio competitions or anything like that, momma just wants a little more bump in the trunk.

Re: 98 EX Power wire for amp

a 10" on a 200w RMS amp is plenty for a civic. that size, an 8ga power wire is fine. i make 4ga ground kits for 7th and 8th gens. link in my sig. don't expect 10 hp increase or nothing!

No, I don't expect any kind of performance upgrade just from grounds. I like the battery terminal connector "hootus" you use. That is what I need to get to use on the hot side. I already have a connector like that for just a single wire I can use on the ground side. I guess I just gotta go do some shopping.

Re: 98 EX Power wire for amp

i have the matching positive terminals available that match the kits i make. both pos and neg clamps each can handle 2-8ga wires, 1-4ga, and 1-1/0ga.
