My car's tiny electrical system can no longer handle my audio so I am upgrading the POS 70 amp alternator to a 140 amp. So heres my question: Don't I need to upgrade the power wire from the alternator?
From what I've read, people just left the stock wires on and then put on a 4ga wire to the + battery terminal. I don't know much about anything electrical but having 2 wires connected to the alternator and then both to the battery? Something doesn't sound right......
That and......
How do i get my car to do this??^^

most HO alternators will come with an upgraded cable to use. problem with going to the battery is you're bypassing the ELD. as long as the stock wires are there, then you're okay, but if you don't use them also, then you'll need to run the upgraded cable to the fuse box, not the battery.
