Hello all,

I have used the search function to find an answer but I haven't found an existing relevant topic.

This is concerning a 1995 Civic DX that has been sitting unused for about 6 months. I hooked up a battery charger incorrectly (reversed polarity) for about a minute before noticing that it was wrong. The battery refused to charge after that.

Long story short, I purchased a new battery and charger, but it won't stay charged longer than 2 days. Is it possible that the brief reversed polarity exposure caused peripheral damage to the electricals, resulting in this problem?

I really appreciate your insights, guys. This problem is driving me nuts!

the battery was installed in the car corectly right? yea it's posible u fried somintg. will the engine start? gauges work etc. check all the fuses and that evreyting works.

also check the parasidic draw on the battery ("memmory drain" how much the car draws with out anyting on. no dome light/ trunk light, key removed, no brake lights etc. should be no more than 75ma or 0.075 of an amp.

Since it sounds like the car runs you probably (luckily) didn't fry any wires. But you may have fried the alternator, I would have it tested.
