i have the big 3 and sell them. your stock alt puts out 840w. take off about 200 for engine essential stuff. another 200 or more if you're running your lights at night. so you really get probably 400-500w out of your alt to be used for charging the battery. yes, the big 3 will help get power back to your battery, but its not enough for your situation. you need a bigger alternator.
I didnt know that HO alts did less amps at idle then stock.
where did you hear that? a 170A HO alternator puts out about 75-80A at idle. that's more than the max output on our alt. don't know where you got your info from.

Finding quality follow up information on HO alts in our civics is surprisingly difficult. The posters on that ep thread are raising very valid concerns.
