Alright, so all but one of the speakers in my 1997 Civic Ex are busted. Here's the set-up I'm thinking of getting. My budget is gonna be around $300 for everything, including installation.
-Sony Xplod CDX-GT31W Headunit (already have from my last car) $0
-Infinity Kappa 63.7i or Kappa 62.7i OR get a component system?($80,$70, ??? all new on ebay)
-Infinity Kappa 693.7i ($98 new on ebay)
So what would you suggest?
Is there a huge difference between a 2 or 3 way speaker or a component system?
I mainly listen to either rap, metal, rock, and occasionally some hip-hop. But mainly rap and metal. Should I even go with Infinity?
Thanks in advance and sorry for all the questions!
Infinity is very good and always rated well on this site. They are excellent. I personally have an all-Alpine set up, with 2 way door speakers, an amp, subs, and a headunit. Theyre great. But i had to dremel a little on the door panel to get them to fit. The Infinity's are supposed to fit right in. But if you do aftermarket speakers, be sure to get an amp. Just decide which (2 or 4 channel) amp you want, and then go find it on ebay for 1/3 the price. Good Luck with it all.

Well, my headunit's built-in amp is a 52 x 4 would that be enough?
I also have an old Rockford Fosgate 45 Punch.
I'm not too knowledgeable on amps, but I thought I wouldn't need one for the door and rear speaker.
Is it necessary?
Well, I think I will just get the speakers installed, and get the amp later.
Sound good?
But if I do decide to get an amp, what should I get that is decent and cheap?
2 or 4 channel?
What kind of wattage?
Brand?
Ehh, im still a noob >_<
EDIT: Apparently the 3-way 6" x 9" Kappas will not fit in my civic according to cruthfield >_<.
But the 2 -ways will.
What is the difference?
Neither of the 6 1/2" Kappas will fit either.
AHHH WTFFF.

ahh dont listen to crutchfield. they said my alpines wouldnt fit, and they popped right in and they came with the exact same bracket. Buy your speakers from onlinecarstero.com and your amp from ebay. I got an Alpine 4 channel amp with 70RMS each way thats worth $330 at Best Buy for $177 shippedd off ebay
Seriously, if you're going to be using the head unit to power the speakers, save money and buy the most efficient 2-way or 3-way speakers you can find that sound good to you.
If you buy Kappa components, then run them off the head unit, thats like buying a ferrari and pouring whiskey in the gastank (well, sort of).
If you cant buy the whole thing right now, I recommend getting some front 2-ways that sound good off the radio. If you want to get all crazy go and buy a set of rear 2 or 3-ways while your at it.
Then, when you're in the upgrade market, get a quality 2 or 4 channel full-range amplifier.
But buying high-end (relatively) components right now is not recommended, if they're going to be powered by the head unit.
Save money, get a pair of fronts in the $80-150 range that sound good at your local big-box entertainment store.
Ebay is great for first time buys and deals on lower end equipment
I agree on the RMS, and the only deck that will put out power per wattage is a deck like mine....Panasonic CQ-C9800U...70x4 MAX, 60x4 RMS...the RMS on this deck is true...it uses Tripath technology....it has a digital amplifier built-in....this is the only deck (the only one I know of) that puts out as much wattage as a decent amp...plus it has a SQ9 Equalizer...and u can fully customize the sound...i'd recommend it!
