94 Si 3dr hatch Compact sub solution?

New forum member's first post - looking for a solution to achieve decent bass in a 3dr Si hatch. I had a 98 Altima with dual 12" Polk DB's in custom home-made enclosures, driven by a MTX 6500 amp as well as two other MTX amps for the fronts & rears however I am downsizing a bit and have got a five-channel amp to run the entire system. The sub channel on the amp is rated at 325watts into 2 ohms. I've considered dual 8" Polk MOMO's as they only require .56 cu. ft. each however I would need to build a custom enclosure. I've researched this for two hours and found MTX Thunderform HC10 & HC10A (amplified) but it looks as though they are made more for a trunk install, not necessarily a hatchback. Does anybody have any idea's for a subwoofer application that would still allow room behind the rear seats for cargo? I realize I'm working against the law's of physics here as there is only so much room in this vehicle so any advice, suggestions is greatly appreciated - thanks all! -Alan To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

Re: 94 Si 3dr hatch Compact sub solution?

i run a single 12" kicker comp in my 02 sedan and it's more than enough. a single 8" or single 10" would be more than enough in a hatch. it doesn't take much. the kickers will pound and they don't require a lot of power to sound awesome. my 12" is only 150w RMS.

Re: 94 Si 3dr hatch Compact sub solution?

I have a 97 civic cx hb, I put a new set of pioneers into it and looked into putting in a pair of 8"s or 10"s but i couldn't lose any trunk space, i was told that the best way is to remove your spare tire and build a set of custom boxes in the floor. You can buy/make a set of waffle or perforated metal grates to cover them so nothing gets in them during daily use. Only downside is you have to ditch your spare.
