Question Removing factory cd player from 2004 civic

Okay, I've searched foooooorrrrrrrrrever trying to find how to take the factory cd player out, and put in my new one.... Each one I find only gets me to the point of being able to reach up and touch the back of the cd player, but not one instructional web page has shown me how to get past that point... most sites just say, i was able to reach my hand up there and plug in the cord for my IPOD, but that's obviously not what i'm trying to do.... pleeeeeeeease, can someone help me

If it has never been out it will be super tight to remove the first time. (then, each time you remove it you will hear a metallic tink sound as you loose the metal clips that BTW can NEVER be located)

Make sure you buy a harness for the new install. Don't cut factory plug.

Yeah, I finally got it out... It pissed me off pretty bad when i was taking the 2 screws out underneath the dash... you couldnt use anything but a wrench, which wasn't hard, but still i had to go search for my brothers wrench

but yeah, i finally got it out, and then i found out that the wires wouldn't fit my cd player, which is my old one... i'm gonna try to get a new one, which i'm about to make a topic about..... so yeah.... thanks tho... it was tough to take out the airconditioning/cd/yield thing.... i had to use a big putty knife and like stick it deep in there, and i was a little bit worried with how much pressure was being put into it to make it pop... but finally it did... so instead of putting it back on, for the time being i'm driving around with it loose until i can get a new cd player, or get the wire adapter thing....

blegh...

You can use a socket wrench with an extension, that's what I do. Long socket for one and extension with normal socket for the other.

try doing a search. it's been DIY'd before. and welcome to the site. we're here to help, but don't expect to have everything handed to you. you need to put in some effort too.
