JL W3v2 Subs worth it???

Well here's the thing, i have a JL 500/1 that i would like to complete with some JL subs. The W3v2 model seems like the best bet for me BUT for the price of them i would consider buying something cheaper with the same SQ and saving a couple bucks. So if some of you audiophile's can put your 2 cents in i would appreciate it. To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

i have owned a 12w3v2, 12v6v(not sure ), and now im rockin 2 8w7's, each sub has been progresivly better than the other but no sub has been bad by any means, you will KILL a 12w3 w/500 watts they only need like 250 MAX ( and thats going to push it hard ) 2 8w7s sound GREAT and hit like 12's on a 500/1, the 12w3 hit pretty well and sounded pretty nice, the 12w6 slammed and sounded fine, and the 8w7s hit as hard as my w6 and sound better than any other sub i ahve owned, they hit every note on double bass metal, trance/house, classic rock, country , rap, well you get the idea

So i guess the W3v2's are not all that, well i was going the JL route only if the W3v2's were that much better than any other sub in its price range, but apparently the W6 and W7 are the way to go.....now i gotta save some cash.

Everyone has their opinions on what sounds good to them. Some people like ported boxes, some like sealed, and some even like bandpass (I don't know why).

Let him choose what sounds best, ported, sealed or bandpass.

btw, I have a ported box, and prefer ported myself, but some people don't like the sound of ported boxes.

Yea i personally like the way a ported box sounds, if it's not built to specs it can really sound like sh!t tho. What did you guys do for the rear deck (sounds like its falling apart), dynamat or you dont have that prob.?

i personally love sealed boxes, but i have been converted to the output power of a properly built ported enclosure, and as far as the rear deck lots of dynomat helps.
