Dashboard lights not working at all?

Me and a friend were hooking up a new reciever in my dash and he accidently hooked the the illum wire into the dimmer wire on the harness(both are orange.) When we finished I turned the car on and the radio did not come on. I turned on the headlights and the radio did come on and 30 seconds later I smelled burning. Now the deadlights and blinkers and everything still works but the dash lights behind the guages dont come on and the blinker indicators stay illuminated. I checked all fuses. Anyone have any guesses to what this could be? To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

I just checked every possible fuse it could be. They are all reading good on a multimeter. Is there anything else it could be? Perhaps a relay? Anyone?

had this problem, was a fuse. check your manual, should be the accessory fuse.
