Residue on new tires

I just recently purchased a tire/wheel combo from Tire Rack. The tires came with a white residue on the sidewall. Does anybody know how to clean this or what is? Thanks.

Re: Residue on new tires

It's for added to tires for storage I believe. Should come off with power washer or sidewall cleaner.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Residue on new tires

Thanks, I tried soap, water, and scotch pad on one of them, no luck. I will try sidewall cleaner or power washer.

Re: Residue on new tires

If it's the greasy lube they use on the beads for installing the tires, sometimes it's made from lard. Try some Dawn? What else takes out lard?

Drive it for a week.....Rub dirt into the rubber, then wash?

I really don't know. And my Google is turned off here.
