Exclamation Weird "clicking" noise when turning

Hello,

I've noticed that when I make left turn, and left turns only, I can hear a "click, click, click, click, click" noise coming from, what seems to be, my front driver side tire. The faster I make a turn, the faster the noise. I've checked my front left tire for wear or any signs of rubbing, but I don't see anythng wrong.

Also, please note that this problem doesn't happen on every left turn I make. Mainly on sharp turns but it can also be vaugly heard on not so sharp of a turn.

I've mentioned this to a friend of mine and he suggested that maybe it's something like the U-Joint or something (I can't really remember exactly) He said, if it's leaking grease and there is no grease there that it's from friction and rubbing.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Weird "clicking" noise when turning

Did you have to have your transmission replaced or repaired? What happened??

Damn, I hope its not something that serious ...

Re: Weird "clicking" noise when turning

Ok ok, I've had this exact same thing happen to me, and it turned out it wasn't a really bad thing. This same situation with the clicking turned out to be my coilovers.....if you have any aftermarket suspension, check that all of the parts are bolted together nicely and that everything is lined up. If you re-used that stock upper mounting plate, the 'notch' in the metal needs to be pointed toward the engine bay. If you try that and it doesn't work, they you might be dealing with an axle issue....I've heard rumors that Honda Axles aren't the toughest on the block. It's usually not that expensive to get them open and repaired. I think my shop quoted me like 90 per axle, and my shop is on the steep side. Good luck

This is sign of a CV joint going out. Check the rubber boot on each end of the axles for rips or tears and alot of grease everywhere.

The same thing is happening to my car. Clicking noises only when I make sharp left turns at +25mph. Nothing at slower speeds or right turns.

Re: Weird "clicking" noise when turning

Same exact issue. Happened on a 1989 Honda CRX

It's either U-joints or CV joints. One or the other.

If that doesn't fix it then yeah something is MAJORLY wrong.

But it's not. It's one of those two things.

I never did find out.. Car got jacked before I could even get it looked at.

DON'T OWN A HONDA IN IRVINGTON/NEWARK NJ AREA.

Re: Weird "clicking" noise when turning

OK. I have a 1991 Honda Civic DX 4 door.

per youtube & this forum, I have determined that my cv joints (both sides) are screwed. BAD clicking when making hard l & R turns, especially at slow speeds. The power steering reservoir is topped up, so it's NOT the power steering.

My Q. HOW MUCH is it to replace BOTH CV joint sides? (remember, this is a $500 great reliable beater, but if it costs $1000 to fix, I plan to just BEAT the living he## outta this car for the next 5-10 years with or without this annoying clicking noise.)

1. Thoughts?
2. COST?
3. What if I did NOTHING?

Thx in advance...

I did check this. The upper mounting plate on 2001 Civic has 3 bolts and the distance between bolt 1 and 2 and bolt 2 and 3 is 97mm. The distance between bolt 1 and 3 is 112mm therefore the "notch" can be placed only one way.
I have to agree although there is a "clicking"noise while pushing down on the fender coming from the mounting plate area.
The struts are new.
Anyone have an explanation?
