15x7.5" +40 wheels rubbing on 2005 Civic

Hey,

I have a customer who purchased a set of used wheels for his 2005 Civic. The wheels are 15x7.5" with a +40 offset.

Apparently during suspension compression the lower control arm is scraping against the inner side of the wheel. He tried testing it out with some spacers, however under hard cornering it is still scraping.

Does anyone know for sure, if there are any brand of rear LCA's available that are shaped in a way to eliminate the scraping? The customer lives over an hour away so I haven't been able to see it in person, so im just going off of what we discussed on the phone. Has anyone else run into this issue? How did you solve it?

Thanks!

There are aftermarket rear LCA's available from Skunk2, Function7, and SPC performance that claim to correct the problem you described but from what I have heard from people that have bought they are just for looks

That isnt what its rubbing on. Its rubbing on the A-arm. The only way you're going to be able to try and stop it is with a toe adjustment and/or harder bushings in the knuckle so that it doesnt flex as much under load. Had this issue with a set of 16x8s. Its in the geometry, the front side of the wheel makes contact under cornering. If the ride height of the car is adjustable and the car can be raised, try that, it'll bring the A-arm higher in the wheel.
