heres the thing... I want swap my Falken 512 215/40/17 tires from my old 17x7 rotas to my new 17x7.5 rims. I'm just wondering if the tire size will work or would this be dangerous? The current tires on the 17x7.5 are hankook r-s2 215/40/17's as well but they seem a bit thicker compared to the falkens for some reason?
any input would be great! thanks

the reason its thicker is becasue the 40 is an aspect ratio depending on the width of the wheel. s0 215 40 17 and a 205 40 17, 40% of the width is the sidewall height, theres alot more to figuring it out, but thats just basic. and yes the 205 40 17 will fit on a 7.5 wide wheel but i would go with a wider tire to protect your wheel edges.
I just wanted to be sure cuz although the two tires have the same size ratings, it seems as if the hankook ones just appear to have a thicker sidewall? but who knows.. maybe korea and japan have different standards...
