Wrapped! - Dezod turbo mani - to wrap or not to wrap?
OK folks, what do you think? I've got the dezod log mani and am thinking about wrapping it. As thick as this monster is, I don't imagine I'll run into cracking problems from keeping too much heat in, but I do want to protect it from rust and keep temps in the bay down a little bit. I am also going to wrap the downpipe. After wrapping the mani and downpipe, its going to get hit with the DEI hi-temp coating (good to 1500 F), to protect the wrap. I am also planning on painting the hot side of the snail with this stuff as well - no wrap for that though.
What am I not thinking of here? I am not concerned about the age old "Dude, its gonna rust faster", because that's not true. I'm concerned with the effect it will have on the manifold. Thoughts?
Here's some pics, because every thread should have pics.

Yeah, that's the consensus I'm getting everywhere else as well. Sounds like a project for tomorrow then. I've got to do the brakes, drive belts, and some electrical work on a buddy's car after work, so I should have time after that.

Jet-hot, etc.... it. Dont wrap it, it holds moisture and can cause the welds to start cracking. You'll also have a bitch of a time trying to wrap a log. if you're worried about heat, ceramic coat everything.
Yeah, I've seen the turbo blankets as well, and I'm not really diggin' them. The tin wrap might be a little less - hell, I don't know. I just don't like the blankets.
I'm with Andy on this one about moisture retention. But, yeah I did some mock-ups last night with a tape measure and wrapping that log is going to be a pain. I'm stubborn and will do it tonight anyway though. I'm going to wait until the turbo install to paint them though. Momma would be pissed if I cooked those stinky parts in the oven to cure them!

That was a giant pain in the ass. But its done and painted now too. Like everyone says, wear rubber gloves as that crap is itchy. Here are a couple pics of it wrapped.
And here are a couple of it wrapped and still wet from the silicone paint.
Is it perfect? No. But I would rather eat glass than try to do that again. Took me two hours just to wrap it. Damn stuff kept slipping around the runners as I was wrapping it, and having the WG and turbo flanges there didn't make it any easier. I will probably hit it with a couple more coats tomorrow when I paint the hot side of the turbo just to be sure.

I wrapped it then painted it.
In retrospect, I probably should have painted it, wrapped it, then painted it again. But I'm not going try and wrap that log mani again. It was a pain in the ass.
