Which Turbo??????

Hi ppls

i was just wondering which Turbo set-up would be better for a quick spool
and have a reasonal amout of boost to it.

ive been thinking about a T28 or T3 but not 2 sure which will be better because i want big power as well.

i will be doing this around mid year and would like to get sum knowledge about it 1st.

my car is a D17 from Australia with no Vtec. i will be doin a head swap with the Vi's we have down here, to gain Vtec.

i will be spending about $8K on the turbo and internal engine work and would like to know would that be enough to gain around 250kw.

thanx

Depending on which T28, they're good for 280-320HP and spool faster.
Super60 is good for about 350.
Neither will make it at a boost level that will keep the motor in one piece, and there's a fantastic FAQ that you ought to read prior to starting in the other FI forum.

This is so damn vague no one's gonna be able to tell you much. What exactly are you building? and with what? You want to make 250KW... which is about 340 HP, and honestly on a single cam, thats a pipe dream for most people. Less than a handful of people have broken 300... and it takes quite a bit more than 8000 ($6300 US) to do it, for 6300 bucks, you'll get a reliable and well tuned turbo, maybe a new cam/springs/retainers and thats probably about it. Probably make 200-220HP if you're lucky and dont get greedy enough to pop the motor.
You want to break 300 HP, double that amount.

Thanx for the info guys

ill prob go for the T28 since it can make good HP.
but now i would like to know what different types of T28 r there, i didnt really know there were different kinds of T28's?

Boilermaker1 i didnt mean to say KW i meant HP. i WISH i would push out 250KW but i know my car has a shit engine.

anyways would the $8K be enough for a full engine build for around 8-12psi turbo on a D17 or do i need more?

More, unless you can do all the machine and fab work yourself.
The turbo setup alone is going to run you $4Kish done right and tuned. Bottom end parts alone plus the labor will push 2K. the head probably another 1500. plus the misc nickel and dime junk that kills you. I'm talking in US Dollars, I'm not sure if you're in USD or AUD.
