I recently bought a 2001 EX with 120k miles. I just need a car that will last me through college, but when I have some money I plan on improving the ride quality. Right now, the front suspension creaks, squeaks, and groans through holes and bumps and turns.
What all do I need to improve the ride quality? I don't want to lower it or race it or any other "it", I just want a nice ride.
Any suggestions?

Yup, Pick up some new dampers and you may want to replace the upper perches with the later 03's. the 01's have a plastic bushing where as the 03 had a ball bearing mount.

"I know Solo only comes one minute at a time, but what an intense, non-stop, fast-forward car control exercise minute it is. Sure, the velocity is higher in road racing, but inside the car it is slow-motion in comparison. In Solo, the turns come like machine-gun rounds. "

I bought an '02 from my neighbor knowing it had a bad tranny, needed tires and when we got it back on the road I found out that the struts were shot. I put on KBY in fron and senitrac in back from Napa, then I had to replace the compliance bushings ( Kind of a sides "A" frame bushing). Wow, I now rides like a caddy a true pleasure to drive and that's what I do, I'm a Medical courier, and I'm in my car 12-14 hours every day putting on 350-400 miles a day. Spend the money and get it right and the little civic will make you proud.
