Re: need help with spring choices

It should be I need help with SHOCK choices. Shocks are more important than springs. If you want a comfortable ride, then get a set of tokico blues with something like eibach pro kit. Although the drop won't be low (~1") it will feel more comfrotable. Also get better tires.

Re: need help with spring choices

Robb,

I see why you get so frustrated. I've seen people with 400fr/300rr linear rate springs on stock dampers and say 'my rides to bouncy'. Then they buy better dampers. Next thng is 'my ride is way too harsh'. It gets very old. People want easy answers rather than doing some reading/research and asking themselves what they really want/need.

I went through the same things 12 years ago as a moderator on the original Honda hybrid site. You eventually get burned out.

Hang in there.

Ya, upgrading your suspension for performance will always give you a rougher ride. If you want a smoother ride you're going to have to lose the tightness in the corners.

Re: need help with spring choices

If you want a smoother ride you need to lower the cars suspension frequency. And that gives you two options.

1. Lower your spring rates

2. Add weight.

Most luxury cars are in the 1 to 1.5 Hz range, where your civic with its "coilovers" is most likely in the 2 Hz area.
