EX 4door appears to be $200 per assembly, HX 2 door appears to be <$100 per assembly for the rears. Doesn't this seem odd?

My reference is Majestic Honda, I'm looking to replace my OEM suspension with new parts as inexpensively as possible (current dampers leak).

I've heard that the 4 door suspension is designed to handle more weight than the 2 door (I own a 2-door), so I started comparing part numbers. The assemblies match in all parts minus the springs and dampers. Cool. Assuming they are the same length for physical compatibility, I should be good to go, right?

Except the assemblies have RADICALLY different part costs, and in the case of the LX drawing, there are THREE assemblies associated with the one drawing number, from $85 to $109. The EX 4 door has two, $91 and $200, and the HX 2 door has one at $88.

Why so many different parts? Is anyone else able to tell the difference? I am looking at majestic honda parts, 2001 civic, component "rear shock absorber"

I dunno, but the EX has ABS, which really isn't connected to the shock. Just get the cheapest ones.

the LX, DX and HX all use the same strut without the ABS bracket. The EX has its own.... its all in volume of manufacturing.

The only suspension difference in the rear I can think of is that the EX has a sway bar in the back, whereas the LX doesn't. But that shouldn't affect the springs and dampers...

He is specifically talking about the rears. There is no ABS bracket on the rear shock.

what about the strut and spring themselves. I heard the 4 door is stiffer than the 2 door so as to hold up the weight of the rear doors. Any truth to this? I'm considering replacing the struts and springs with sedan suspension because of associated subwoofer and battery weight.

Anyone know?

sedans teld to sag alot in the back while coupe doesnt. im not sure if its a problem with suspension or just too much weight. cause i have nothing in my trunk and aftermarket shocks/springs and my rear sags slightly (1/2 finger) when i fill up the gas tank. on stock shocks, it was slammed in the back (no gap). this is without spare tire either. i think the stock shocks are very weak in the back, we did not even need a spring compressor, it just came apart without any tension lol.
