shifter knob

im having trouble finding out how to remove my shifter knob so that i can put an after market one on. it just spins in circles if i try to turn it and it wont just pull off and i dont wanna pull to hard so that i dont break it. anyone know how to get this knob off????

Lol you pull down...If you have a 01-05 civic, the actual knob and the silver piece pull apart. Pull down on not the knob but the piece attached to the boot.
