So yeah, Im merging onto the highway today, on my way to the post office to mail out some bills. There is a little traffic on the road, and about two cars in front of me on the on-ramp. I notice that the lead car is braking and slowing down to about 10 mph when he should be speeding up to merge, so I slow down myself and put about 2 car lengths in front of me and the next car so I have some room to speed up. Im going about 10-15mph for about 5 seconds and looking in my drivers side mirror checking for traffic on the highway so I can merge when I hear a loud ass tire screech from behind me. Instinctivly, I look up and get ready to cut my wheel and floor it onto the grass to the right of me to avoid damage to my newly obtained 03 sedan but it was far too late and the <explitive deleted> slammed into me. After making sure the lady was alright/checking myself over/calling the state troopers, I took a quick look at my car, expecting the back end to be hanging off and my $360 sub/custom trunk to be lodged halfway through my back seat. AMAZINGLY, by the grace of <insert higher being here>, everything appears to be perfect except for my bumper, which obviously crumpled and the paint is chipping off. Im talking about no apparent fender flexing, no broken tailights, not even a scratch on my chrome tipped muffler. I am of course taking it to the dealer to get everything looked over courtesy of her, but I was shocked. This lady had to be going at least 40mph before she slammed on her breaks and skidded into my rear. So my fingers are crossed that the only damage is the bumper, and if it is, Im letting the Honda Execs run a train on my g/f. Just kidding of course, but I will be impressed with honda engineering.
