95 civic DX crank no start help

She cranks but don't start, fuel pump turns on fuels flowing, fuel filter is pumping. Was driving turned off. Coasted to a stop. Small trace of electrical burning smell. Fuel relay is OK as well as the fuse. Any help is much appreciated. I put a New relay in there. No change.

No spark. And check the coil no fire.

Re: 95 civic DX crank no start help

No spark... Is there ANY spark produced, even if it can only jump a gap of 1mm? (gotta check closely for this, it's not real obvious when the spark is so tiny...can't use a spark plug because the gap is too big, I use a screwdriver with a ground wire attached to it) If it actually does make just a teensy bit of spark that's a bad coil. If zero spark, more testing is needed.

The coil uses 2 (small) wires to control it.....so next I'd want to TEST to see if there is still 12v+ supplied to one of the wires,
and then use a dwellmeter or LED test light to verify if the ICM is triggering the coil (tiny short momentary negative pulse for each spark event, or a dwell reading in the single digit range if you have a meter).

If the inputs to the coil are correct but no spark, then bad coil.
If the inputs to the coil are not correct, more testing is needed. Or try swapping in a distributor from a running car.

Sniff test the ECM in the passengers kick panel too?
