95 Civic Starting Problem

Ok So I Was Driving And Pulled Over Because My Car was Losing power And The Tac Stopped Working. I Pop My hood And The Rubber That Goes Over The Alternator Post Is On Fire So I Poured A Little Water On It. The End Of The Wire Looked Fried So I Spliced And Krimped A New End Of The Wire and Re Connected It To The Alternator. Now Go To Start The Car And I Hear No Beep When I Put The Key In The Ignition, Headlights Don't Work, No Dash Or Interior Lights Either. I Can't Hear The Fuel Pump Prime, The Only Thing That Works Is My Hazards. I Tried Getting A Jump, Checked My Fuses Inside & Out, Swapped The Main Relay, Swapped The ECU And The Ignition Switch. All Of My Grounds Are Connected So I'm Stumped..

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: 95 Civic Starting Problem

.

The biggest fuse in the engine compartment fuse box is blown.

Probably an 80A square fuse with a clear window on top so you can see the open element inside (compare to others).

If the charge cable fried, what caused it? Usually it would have been a loose nut on the back of the alternator to cause something like that. Might need to replace the cable and/or alternator if things got hot enough to melt plastic insulators.
