Rep Power: 0 91 EF 1.6L with Vetec Head-Issues Please Help
Hello All!
I'm posting because my race teem and I bought a 91 Civic Si Hatch for the Chump Car racing. The car was previously used for dirt track racing and it has a stock 1.6L block with a single cam Vetec head (don't know what year) along with the ECU and distributor. The hardness appears to modified for this setup as well and I was told that it was wired so the Vetec is always on. When we drove it on the street it seem to run just fine, but when we got it out on the track it would stall under load at high speeds! After a few seconds it would backfire and then start running again. Otherwise this car drives great and could be pretty competitive if we could only fix this. We did all the obvious things such as replacing the fuel filter, plugs and the coil. We even tested the fuel pump relay. I don't know much about Honda's, so is there someone who could give us some insight on this swap, and maybe help us solve this problem?
Thanks for any help
Matt
