Re: Need help figuring out what Civic Model this is

It could be both an EG and a DX. I believe EG is the chassis code (hatchback) where as the model could be a CX, DX, VX or Si. The model depends on the features in the car, motor, power/manual steering and brakes. If you post more info I'm sure someone could more accurately answer your question.

it has a 16 valve engine. It does have an A/C so it can't be a CX

And thats where you are wrong milkey. EG is not just the hatchback chassis code. EG is also the chassis code for hatchbacks and the DX/LX sedan chassis code as well as the JDM market CR-X, the European market hatch and sedans, and the USDM and JDM Del Sols

How am I wrong? EG is the Chassis code and it's a hatchback? I don't think he cares about vehicles he doesn't own

Re: Need help figuring out what Civic Model this is

what model is it? check the accessories and engine number, and then find your answer here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_C...th_generation) and about the whole eg thing; in my experience anyone who says they have an eg, means a 5th gen hatch, just like an ej is a 5th gen coupe. either way, yes it is an eg regardless, and also has another model name such as cx, dx, si etc.

Re: Need help figuring out what Civic Model this is

digits 4, 5, and 6 are your chassis code in your VIN which is most easily found in the driver side of the window from outside all the in the front of the dash at the bottom of the window (very helpful to know in the civic world by the way)

Re: Need help figuring out what Civic Model this is

EG will be part of the VIN. Just like my VIN has an EM2 for a 2001-2005 coupe. It's just the chassis code used to easily differentiate models/generations.

DX is the model. It denotes the STOCK trim/engine package.
