I have a 94 civic(4dr) and for the past month or so its been giving me some starting problems. it wont start(sometimes) after its been parked for a couple hours or over night. some days i start it in one turn, and some days i have to turn the key atleast 2-3 times before it starts, and some days it just wont start at all. so i figured since its getting to winter, maybe its the bettery. so i bought a new battery( coming up on 3 weeks since i got the new battery). for the first 2 or 3 days it seemed to be fine, but now its doing the same thing all over again. i dont think its the starter, mayb the altenator?..if its the altenator, how do i go by replacing it?...can i do it from the front or do i need to go from underneath?..
thanks for the feedback(in advance)

If you're getting it to start, might not be starter.
Cold temperatures will affect battery performance, and if it isnt getting fully charged every day, then CCA of the battery will drop
Would be a good idea to get alternator checked out at a auto parts store though

OP: test the alternator, you can do it with a voltmeter or an auto-parts store might do it free of charge.

if it's been sitting in the sun and it's very hot inside, and won't start, it's because of bad solders on the main relay control unit under the steering wheel. when it gets very hot in the interior, the solders on the board lose contact.
open all the doors, and let it cool off inside, if it starts then, thats your problem.
go to any electronics store and get some cold spray and squirt it, to verify thats your problem the next time it won't start.
...or always park in a shaded area, with your windows down.
i had this problem on 2 of my 3 92-95 civics, and got replacement (rebuilt) main relays with the solder already redone for like $12. hasnt happened since replacement.

i am having the same problem except mine is automatic. I have already replaced relay, and ignition switch. My fuel pump doesnt prime, and my injectors do not open.

THESE CARS ARE VERY BAD FOR COOKING DISTRIBUTORS, I had the same problem and took m,e a while to figure out. Take a good look at yours, mine was fried inside, some wires were burnt a bit.

I JUST HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT FOR ME AND IT WAS MY GROUNDS I HAD TO TAKE OFF THE MAIN TRANNY GROUND AND THE NEGATIVE GROUND POST AND SANDED THEM BOTH DOWN AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I WAS SUPRISED TO BECAUSE I NEVER WOULDVE TOUGHT IT WOULD BE THAT. if that dont work go to autozone and theyll test ur starter for free. good luck man

I'm having a similar problem. I have a a 92 civic cx and it starts fine, but i was learning how to start on a hill & stalled and it wouldn't start, I tried jumping it and it wouldn't turn over. It's as if it had no power. I got it to a flat area and let it sit, & after a few attempts it started and ran like nothing happened. I thought since I just bought it that it might have sat for a while before hand and water maybe got in the fuel pump and was causing this, I replaced it but its still doing this, but only if I stall on a hill. I am thinking maybe the alternator?? Any one know what it might be?

I have a 2012 Civic and if I let it sit a few days now that it is cold outside it won't start. Just bought a new battery. So pretty much the same problem.
