1st - 5th Gen Honda Civic As these Honda Civics get older and older they become harder to find in great condition and less popular to modify. By no means does this make them less of a contender on the track or car audio competition. Don't forget the roots of what made import tuning what it has become today.

Question NEED HELP: replaced VSS and cluster, now TRANSMISSION shifting weird. 95 AUTO LX

hey guys i hope im posting in the right area. i cant seem to find any answers through the search function:

1995 civic lx, 4 dr, automatic, 115k

the car speedometer was acting up. so, natually assume the VSS. I had a mechanic replace the VSS, but the speedo was still all over the place. Then the mechanic took out my original Gauge Cluster(cluster 1, 115k), and put in a used Gauge Cluster (cluster 2, 180k). The mechanic then saw it was working and retried cluster 1.

when i was at the shop, one of the mechanics pulled out the TEETH to show me they all lined up right.

i got the car back, but now the car was shifting weird. i drive out of the mechanic shop and i noticed 15 feet out of the shop.

The car was shifting at a higher than normal RPM and MPH.
gear 1 to 2 was at 21mph and 4000 rpm
gear 2 to 3 was at 40 mph and at 4000-5000 rpm.

i then attempted to see how the car drove by using the low gear modes manually. i shifted gear 1 to 2 manually at 15mph and it went in smooth. the car is able to shift when i make it shift there but in D4 or D3 is where it is having the issue.

we then tried the old speed sensor, nothing changed.

the car now has the new speed sensor in and the cluster 2. speed and rpm are registering but the tranny is what is acting weird.

i tried unplugging my battery as well in hopes of reseting the system but that was not successful.

anyone have any ideas? there is NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT on. I dont know where to go at this point and i just dropped 600 dollars at the mechanic messing around with this and i got no answers.

one honda dealer told me it is prob the gauge cluster (but 2 other dealers said no that is not possible).

i tested the car with the AC on and it was the same. I aslo tested the car using cruise control and it was the same too.

Thanks for the help guys. I am stranded in a state I dont live in right now with no options. I was supposed to be back home on Friday and it is Monday now. I live 6.5 hours from where I am now.
