1st - 5th Gen Honda Civic As these Honda Civics get older and older they become harder to find in great condition and less popular to modify. By no means does this make them less of a contender on the track or car audio competition. Don't forget the roots of what made import tuning what it has become today.

Re: 1991 civic dx upgrades

my opinion just keep it stock and use it to commute, because unless you feel like finding out your exhaust has rusted a 5 inch crack away, replacing your front axles cause your boots tore, replacing your blown trailing arm bushings, and after all thats done have your head gasket blow...great heh 8]]

but in the mean time make your own exhaust from a cheap aftermarket muffler that gives you your "noise"

nothing says speed and power than a bunch of aftermarket stickers on your car

...kidding

my advice,
if you really wanna work on a car, save up 500 bucks, go to a junk yard find a "totaled" OLD SKOOL si and fix it up.

if not sounds like your making rice

Yea dont make it rice. How many km's on your car and does it have any rust. Cuz if your car has cancer there is pretty much no point of doin any expensive mods because the only way to cure cancer is gettin the body work professionally done, which is anywhere from 2-3 grand. You can always get cold air intake and exhaust for noise but power really isnt worth it if your car is gonna die soon...

you can get an engine swap try a b16 dohc v-tec and an LS tranny..you'll fly or you could just do your whole exhaust... cold air intake, bigger intake manifold, headers, down pipe, muffler and exhaust tip..

Re: 1991 civic dx upgrades

I have the same car as the guy that started this thread and I would like to modify my own right now...this is my second vehicle and sometimes my daily driver because it is ugly as hell...my primary vehicle is a 99 F-150 that I have put close to $15,000 into and now my focus is on this 91 DX (Basically a POS, I paid 300 for it running and another 400 to get it to pass smog)....So far all that I have put onto it is a K&N intake but I have been searching the internet for Exhaust set ups but have no idea what to look at or what is good for that matter...this is my first import car and I don't like being seen in it right now so within the next 2 months it will be getting 3 new body panels, a tint and some new paint as well....any ideas would be greatly appreciated....so long as it gets better than 15mpg which is what my truck gets for now I will be happy

Wow. Not much love for the EF's.

My first Honda was my '91 DX. It's now sporting a full '98 Spec jdm ITR powertrain, OBD2 Spoon ecu, ZC hood, ITR cluster, rear seats, center console, a brake upgrade, custom stainless 3in exhaust, and a ton more. I love the car and will never get rid of it.
